We gain an insight into our customers by asking the right questions, allowing us to quickly establish what our customers' requirements are and then we tailor the most appropriate solutions by negotiating with our insurer partners.

Artemis Insurance Brokers was recently invited to review the insurance portfolio of a property owner. We discussed their insurance requirements including the construction of the property, the adequacy of the sums insured for buildings, contents, property owners liability and loss of rent, the occupancy of the premises and the security precautions in place. 

We were advised that there was no burglar alarm at the premises and on reviewing their existing cover, we were surprised to see on the policy schedule that the existing insurer had imposed an alarm warranty, which stated that the alarm system had to be switched on whenever the premises was left unattended and at night in order for theft cover to be in force. 

We obtained a quotation from an alternative insurer:

• Where there wasn't a requirement for a burglar alarm, so theft cover was in force;
• Which included Legal Expenses cover (which the existing policy didn't provide);
• Which provided the correct amount for loss of rent cover (following an insured peril loss); 
• Which provided the property owner with a saving.

When we presented our quotation to the property owner and pointed out that there was no theft cover in force under their existing policy, they were shocked as the alarm warranty had not been made clear to them by their existing supplier. At Artemis, before we instruct an insurer to go on cover, we highlight to our customers in writing any significant warranties and endorsements that could restrict cover. 

Thankfully for this property owner, Artemis ensured that their insurance requirements were met in full.
